About the Art ACE B 17 chronograph – Anniversary Edition Rooted in Swedish aviation heritage, this timepiece draws inspiration from the pioneering Swedish B 17, the aircraft that marked the beginning of Sweden’s modern aircraft industry. First flown on 18 May 1940, the B 17 was Sweden's first domestically designed all-metal aircraft design. A total of 325 aircrafts were manufactured in its short active duty, as it was retired from frontline roles in 1948 and from secondary roles in 1954. Only a small number of of five B 17 aircrafts remain today and only one restored example is still airworthy, continuing to fly on special occasions as a living reminder of Sweden’s early aviation heritage. The aircraft is hand-painted on the ACE Chronograph 44, built for durability and readability and has become a fitting veteran amongst the MALM collections, suitable for the historic B 17.
